ABOUT LEVERS, IT'S TYPES AND EXAMPLES
LEVERS :
- Lever : Lever is a rigid rod or bar pivoted at a point called fulcrum and used
- to overcome a load by the application of a small effort, or
- sometimes, to facilitate the application of effort in a desired direction.
- Arms of lever : In a lever, a perpendicular distances of the effort and load from the fulcrum are known as effort arm and load arm respectively.
- Leverage : The ratio of the effort arm to the load arm is called Leverage.
- Types of Levers :
The different types of levers commonly used in engineering applications, are discussed below:
- Lever with Fulcrum Between Load and Effort
- Lever with Load Between Fulcrum and Effort
- Lever with Effort Between Fulcrum and Load
- Angular Lever
- Bell Crank Lever
- One Arm Lever
- Compound Lever
