TYPES OF TOLERANCES

 WHAT IS TYPES OF TOLERANCES:

There are two types of tolerances:

1. Unilateral Tolerances:

• In unilateral tolerance, both the limits of size (maximum limit and minimum limit ) are only on one side of the basic size.
• Examples of unilateral tolerances:

                  + 0.05           + 0.05         - 0 0. 00           - 0.02

                  + 0.00           + 0.02         - 0.05               - 0.05

         (i) 30    mm  (ii) 30   mm   (iii) 30   mm   (iv) 30   mm  

      

       2. Bilateral Tolerances:

• In bilateral tolerances, both the limits of size (maximum limit and minimum limit) are on either side of the basic size
• Examples of bilateral tolerances :

                + 0.05                      + 0.05               + 0.01

               - 0.05                        - 0.01               - 0.05

        (i)  30   mm              (ii) 30   mm         (iii) 30   mm
